Abstract

Purpose : To reduce radiation dose by adjusting scan range with best phase acquisition section when performing coronary artery CT for patient whose heart rate is more than 80 bpm.
Materials and method : We investigated by using automatic phase selection of patients whose heart rates were more than 80 bpm and had no experience of heart surgery and arrhythmia(a-v block, atrial fibrillation) from January 1 to 31,2013. The CT scan data acquisition range was 30 to 80% in R-R interval of electrocardiography in retrospective scan mode. The number of patients were 66 (mean age: 58 [38-83 years]) and they could not eat medicine(Concor) because of low blood
pressure, eat no effect. 4 radiologists qualitatively analyzed image quality of RCA using PACS program in four-point scales
Result : Best phase acquisition section for patients with heart rates between 80~90, 90~100, and above 100 bpm were 33~78%, 33~48%, and 34~49%, respectively. The results of qualitative analysis showed good image quality (mean score 3.05). All 4 radiologists showed substantial agreement in assessment of image quality.
Conclusion : We get the results that we could reduce radiation dose through selecting data in acquisition section between 35~80% for patients whose heart rates are more than 80 bpm.
